Rides
Planning is part of the fun. A handful of rides that we've done, or will get to in good time.
Ride : Etape Le Touquet
[Strava]
Stage 4 of the 2014 Tour de France. Retracing the route from Le Touquet-Paris-Plage to Lille Métroploe, for a sprint originally won by Marcel Kittel.
Ride : Randonnée Etreux
https://www.strava.com/routes/25742099
A rider who has completed a 200km event is called a randonneur. Circular route from Étreux, visiting Cambrai, Arras, Thiepval, and Saint-Quentin.
Ride : Ryde-Freshwater-Ryde
https://www.strava.com/routes/20655649
A 100km loop around the 1970s, off the ferry at Ryde then clockwise to Ventor, Freshwater, Cowes and back.
Jerseys
If we aren't dressed the same, people won't realise we know each other.
Contact road.club@lanternegeorge.com to order jerseys and other kit.
Books
Chronology of books read and recommended. Mostly Le Tour, but some on a (ever so slightly) broader topic.
The Road Book : Cycling Almanack, the Professional Cyclist's Bible
"...The Road Book is the first of its kind, supplying data from every single World Tour race across the Men’s and Women’s calendar, exclusive essays, editorial from leading figures within cycling, team profiles, and the kind of considered editorial ... readers will dip in and out of for years to come..."
